¡Adios Boston!
Hello to all you amazing friends and family!
I'm so touched and happy you have found your way to Chileen in Chile! For the next 5 and a half months, I will exploring the amazing South American country that has 6,435 km of coast line (fun fact: that is the 19th highest in the world https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_length_of_coastline), and I thought that it would be a lot of fun to document my journey, classes, and experiences with anyone who is interested! (I would like to make a special shout out to Madame Chista Irani here who thinks that I could personally grow just as much in Medford. Love and miss you honey bunny.)
My goal is to post an update every week at the minimum. I think Sunday evenings sound quite nice. I just do ask that you all please be a little patient with me please as I 1) have never had a blog before and 2) am no English major. I honestly did not even know how to log in to write posts until this morning when I Googled it. But I think this will be the easiest way to communicate with all the people who want to follow along! I will post pictures and write; I hope you all can come away with a little taste of what I am living through down in the southern hemisphere!
I am leaving tomorrow evening (July 12th) from Boston, flying down to Atlanta, and meeting up with the other 14 Tufts in Chile travelers. From there, we will head down to Santiago together (arriving on July 13th). Santiago will be our home base! As soon as I have more information about addresses, my host family, and my classes, I will be sure to share with all of you!
One final thing: as I was falling asleep the other night, I thought I would end each post with a Spanish phrase or word, its meaning, and why I chose it for that post. There is a chance it will be weird and not really fit, but I'm going to give it a try! Maybe ~comment~ your thoughts below.
That is all I have now, my loves. I'm finishing up packing and am soaking up the last bit of time with my family tonight. I will be writing from Chile next!
Love you all, and I will miss you tremendously. For those juniors also going abroad: I hope you have the most amazing time, and cannot wait to hear about your adventures! For my amazing friends staying in the 02155, hold down the fort for all of us crazy travelers. For Mom, Dad, and Haley: December 15th cannot come soon enough, and I am already so excited to share all of my future favorite spots around Santiago with you. Make sure that wild feline of ours doesn't forget me.
xoxo,
Olivia/Liv/Boo
La aventura = adventure
Not a huge difference between Spanish and English, but either way, I certainly have one coming my way! First in Santiago, then throughout the whole Chilean country, then up to Peru and over to Argentina. Can't wait to share it all with you amazing people.
